Hello there and welcome to another exciting episode of What You Need 2 Know!

You’ve heard a lot about it, you’ve probably seen it too, but you have no idea what it actually is. This week we will be looking at HTC’s Sense.

What it is
HTC Sense is basically a theme that runs over Android OS. It includes a series of widgets, some of which help you organize your contacts better and manage your Twitter and Facebook account with ease.

HTC calls it “a user experience focused on putting people at the centre by making phones work in a more simple and natural way.”

Sense is what differentiates HTC Android phones from others. And trust me, that’s a good thing.

HTC Sense UI Screens

Alright, so you want to know what it looks like? See the screenshots below to get a glimpse and then watch the video to get a quick walkthrough of the interface.

Click here to check out the interface on HTC’s tablet.

First thing you should do is click here to go to the HTC Sense World website to see (in a cool animated form) what Sense brings to the table.

Other than the standard customized widgets, Sense has an eReader application, HTC Hub (download and purchase alternative skins and other media) and an app that picks reviewed and recommended apps from the Android Marketplace to aid your find-a-new-app experience.

Check out the video below to see some of the features (compass oriented maps, easy social networking integration etc.) that come within an HTC Sense phone. Skip to 1:39 mark for the good stuff.
Things get even better. provides a series of connected services for security, backup and remote control of your HTC device. In case a phone is stolen or lost, users can both lock and/or wipe the device via Another feature of the site is that it can help you find a misplaced phone by making it ring loudly, even when the silent mode is activated, and show its location on an online map.

The online service will also let you automatically backup text messages, call history, contacts, data and customizations. Furthermore, HTC is including multimedia features that let us capture, upload and share visual content. The company is also adding real-time filters for picture manipulation and vintage effects.
